~ The Cara Mia Delgatto Mystery Series ~

When was the last time that a book you read made you feel good? Well, my readers tell me that my stories take them to another world, and when they return to their lives, they feel refreshed. That's certainly my aim. I want to educate, encourage, and entertain.

I write about ordinary women who do extra-ordinary things, because those are the people I know and admire. Probably someone a lot like YOU!

If I had any motto to live by, it would surely be this quotation from Emily Dickinson: Dwell in possibilities. When I see how far I've come in life, and how I've defied expectations, I can't help but thank my lucky stars and my wild imagination! So come with me, take my hand, and let's go to a place where "happily ever after" meets "the woman next door."

Doing the Happy Dance and Finishing KICKED TO THE CURB

Apr 30, 2014
My author friends and I agree that the second book in any series is always the hardest to write. With the first book, you've got this great idea that you can't wait to bring to life. But the second book demands that you live with any mistakes you made in Book #1. It's also a challenge because you have to decide whether to expand the universe you've created. And let's face it, nothing can top the drama of Book #1. That's the rocket ship that sets your characters into orbit.

So yesterday when I typed those magic words "THE END" on the last line of KICKED TO THE CURB (Book #2 in the Cara Mia Delgatto Mystery Series), I was delirious with joy. In fact, I was so thrilled that I ran outside and did a little happy dance. Unfortunately, as I ran around on my lawn, I didn't watch where I was stepping carefully enough--and I almost landed on a five-foot long black Florida racer.

From now on, I think I'll open a bottle of champagne instead of dancing!

So KICKED TO THE CURB will now officially go "into production." That means we've notified the cover designer, the beta readers, and the proofreaders. Look for the book next month!

TEAR DOWN AND DIE

A Cara Mia Delgatto Mystery (Book #1)

First in a new series! A spin off from the Kiki Lowenstein Mysteries! After her parents die within six months of each other and her son goes off to college, savvy entrepreneur Cara Mia Delgatto decides to construct a new life for herself. A road trip leads to her grandfather's home on the picturesque Treasure Coast of Florida, where she impulsively snaps up a “tear down,” a building scheduled for the wrecking ball—only to discover it's already occupied by a fresh corpse. While Detective Lou Murray tries nail the killer to the wall, Cara Mia enlists the help of two  new friends to open a store specializing in one-of-a-kind, recycled, and repurposed items. But before she can get down to brass tacks, Cara Mia decides to help Lou figure out “whodunnit,” because she’s been painted into the picture as one of the prime suspects. To make matters more complicated, tensions are  building with Cooper Rivers, an old boyfriend. Cara Mia wonders whether her second chance at love will pan out—or if her carefully constructed fantasies will lead her to a new life behind bars.

Includes recipes and crafts.

Author’s Note: The Kiki Lowenstein Mystery Series has left readers asking for more. So I’ve created this new series featuring one of Kiki’s friends, Cara Mia Delgatto. These books will continue the key elements that I think make for a great book: a realistic and relatable cast of characters, an interesting setting, lovable rescued pets, doable craft tips, and yummy recipes. Above all, this is a “clean” read without bad language, graphic sex, or too much violence. See why my readers turn to my books for a  wonderful escape that leaves them feeling better rather than down!
